His Holiness Pope Francis received Carlos Moedas and Filipe Anacoreta Correia at the Vatican 100 days before the start of World Youth Day

The mayor and deputy mayor of Lisbon were received this Saturday by the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church at the Vatican, 100 days before the start of World Youth Day, which will be held in Lisbon in August.

During the meeting, Pope Francis was keen to record a video to thank the people of Lisbon for their efforts in support of World Youth Day.

"I am happy to be back in Lisbon. I am pleased with what you are doing and forgive me for all the disruption that this event will cause. Once again, thank you for your warm welcome".

During the meeting, Carlos Moedas declared: "we are on the threshold of a unique event that will mark Lisbon and the country. It is exciting to be with the Holy Father and to be able to convey all the enthusiasm with which the city will welcome thousands of youths who will be gathering in the city with much excitement and fraternity".

For the mayor, "it is a great pride for us to be at the Vatican and to share a message of confidence that we are well prepared and convinced that the WYD in our city will be a huge success."

The municipality is working at full speed to ensure that the city is ready to welcome Pope Francis and youths from all over the world, as part of the biggest event in the living memory of Portugal.
