Dom Afonso Henriques Alameda

In the area long since known as the Dom Afonso Henriques Alameda, thereby named in honour of the first king of Portugal, is the site of the Youth Festival running from 1st to 4th August.

With its extensive lawns and flanked by dozens of trees, the alameda, a green axis within a monumental structure, is set off by an installation featuring the most beautiful allegories of the river Tagus and its vast estuary, the Monumental Alameda Fountains and its viewing point on its upper terrace.

This vast space, the alameda, shall be welcoming thousands of young pilgrims who shall certainly be duly impressed by its beauty and history as such as has already made such striking impressions on various generation with all the influence established by its memory.
